This fine French violin was crafted around 1850 by Honoré Derazey, one of the most respected violin makers of 19th-century Mirecourt. Known for his collaboration with J.B. Vuillaume and his exceptional craftsmanship, Derazey’s instruments are celebrated for their elegant modeling, quality materials, and powerful, refined tone.
This violin features beautifully flamed maple, a finely carved spruce top, and a rich, reddish-brown varnish typical of Derazey’s best work. Its tonal qualities include a warm, resonant lower register and a brilliant, clear upper end—responsive, balanced, and ideal for both solo and ensemble performance.
A superb example of mid-19th century French violin making, offering historical significance and a distinguished, expressive voice.
